I AM ZLATAN

Zlatan Ibrahimovic. One of the most eccentric and iconic characters in football ever. A career spanning just over two decades, played at some of the biggest clubs on the planet is something that definitely sounds worthy of a cinematic biopic. The trouble is, can a film do the legend justice?

Son of Balkan immigrants Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Granit Rushiti), born in Sweden, becomes, after a rough childhood, a Swedish football champion of several decades.
It's a real shame that I Am Zlatan is very much a sub-par biopic that doesn't do justice to the footballing great it depicts. The writing is incredibly flimsy and thin that it makes for a very lightweight final product when the subject is anything but.

Granit Rashiti gives his all in the lead role but it's hardly an inspiring performance, save for a few moments scattered throughout. The supporting cast are fine but again there isn't much there to make this stand out as one of the great sports biopics.

His footballing antics are legendary but I Am Zlatan fails to deliver a compelling telling of his antics. It seems as if it's near impossible to make a good film based around football.
